BG Open Air is a Bedford programming series designed to bring art experiences beyond gallery walls, fostering a deeper connection between art, community, and the environment.
Inspired by the Bedford’s summer exhibition, CALeidoscope: Evolving Reflections of California, join us outside the gallery walls for a hike at Old Borges Ranch. Led by a Walnut Creek Open Space Ranger, explore the City’s natural landscape, learn about local flora and fauna, and finish with a self-guided plein air watercolor activity. All ages welcome, and art supplies provided.
About the Nature Hike:
A gorgeous stroll through the hillsides surrounding Old Borges Ranch, the walk is a 1.5-mile loop on an unpaved trail with rolling elevations. The trail is considered appropriate for all ages and both amateur and experienced hikers. Due to the unpaved, uneven nature of the trail, it is not stroller, wheelchair or walker accessible.
About the Art Activity:
At the conclusion of our guided walk, we will return to the starting point for an outdoor watercolor activity. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a first-timer, be inspired by the gorgeous surroundings as you paint in a self-guided setting. All materials needed to engage your inner artist are provided.
Space is limited; advance tickets are required. Participants ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Caregivers can use their discretion on whether they want to use a carrier for younger children.
