About these Sculptures
Nicky Statius’ Baskets welcomes residents and visitors to Viamonte. The largest ‘basket’ sits at the entrance and three others are in a bioswale running the length of the building.
The artist states “We all start with just a breath of air. Slowly we add not only necessities like clothing, food and shelter, but luxury items to enrich our lives. With age this process is reversed. Material goods lose their appeal, and the holding vessels (baskets) now hold stories of family, shared memories and caring hugs.”
About the Artist
Statius lives in Scappoose, OR, and practices in the Western U.S., often using Corten steel, glass and gold leaf in her sculptures.
Location: The outdoor lobby of Sequoia Living at Viamonte Walnut Creek, 2801 Shadelands Drive, Walnut Creek, CA
